A Look Ahead
In February, Gordon Deeg will provide recommendations for
improving a tree of your choice. Bring a tree in that you
wish to show in April or one that you are just wondering
what to do with to make it better. This will be a fun
evening of learning what to look for to improve our trees.
This is especially good to refine a winter silhouette so
you have a wonderful tree on display at the show in April.
It is recycle time
The Board will be taking down
a batch of copper and aluminum to the recycling center at
the end of January 2009. If you would like to donate your
old wire to the cause, bring it to the Plantings or the
January club meeting. Please keep the copper separate from
the aluminum. Proceeds go to Kusamura Bonsai Club. Thanks
for contributing!
Notices
Karl Brown
has passed away. He was a great asset to the club some 15
years ago. He will be greatly missed.
Dues Now Due
Hard to believe but another year has gone by and our membership
dues are up for renewal. The Board has decided to raise dues
for the first time in many years. We hope you all choose to
continue with us and bring a check to John or Helen valued
at $30 for a Single and $40 for a Couple made out to Kusamura
Bonsai Club. Name badges and club pins are available from
Helen as well.
The Next Potting Parties
These potting parties are lots of fun and help to create
good looking plants for sale at the show in April. Planting
parties are held at the home of John and Sandy Planting in
Palo Alto (898 Colman Ave). Pots, soil and other items
needed for potting are provided by the club. Just bring some
tools and have some fun.
January 11, 2008
February 11, 2008
We will be working on donated. This includes trees you may
be taking care of from the previous shows, Sumigawa nursery
donated trees from the bus trip, and club trees. Remember
that we are asked to contribute three new trees each year to
the sale. Bring your trees that you are donating. Do not
bring trees that are NOT going on sale to these
events; this is not a general workshop.
Thanks to
the approximately 17 people for the November potting party.
The weather was great and we were able to prepare at least
50 trees for sale at the show in April.
