MAY MEETING

7:00 p.m. Azalea Sale

Tom Refvem's very nice azalea collection will be sold. Come early for the best choices. Bring your checkbook!

8:00 p.m. Jim Gremel on Yamadori

Jim Gremel will give a demonstration workshop called Yamadori II. Some of our members will have styled a young pine or juniper in the coiled style called yamadori during a lesson with Jim in the past. Your trees should have grown quite a bit since then. Now it's time to take the next step, and Jim will help you. Bring your own tools and wire. For those who have not yet started a yamadori, Jim will have young trees that can be purchased for $4.00 each, and he will teach you the beginning steps. If you have them, bring scissors and wire cutters. He will provide all the other things needed. Jim says that beginners are sometimes even better at yamadori then more experienced people because they don't know all the rules yet!

Jim will also have some of his unique, handmade pots for sale, as well as annealed copper wire in various sizes and &endash;something new--bonsai tools. Bring your checkbook! Jim Gremel has given great programs for us in the past. He is a fine artist who does meticulous, beautiful work of which he will bring some examples to show us. He is coming all the way from Occidental to be with us. Don't miss this opportunity.

May Work Schedule
From A Year of Bonsai Tips by Jim Ransohoff

Last Month's Bonsai Show

President Lonnie McCormick and Show Chair Sandy Planting wish to thank all of you who worked so hard to make the show successful. It was a beautiful show. The plant sale plants were great and numerous. The lunchroom donations were irresistible. You will be glad to know that we met all our expenses and more. Best of all, we received many appreciative comments from visitors, and 18 or so people asked to be on our mailing list for the next three months.
