As we prepare for our annual exhibition on Sunday, June 7th, there are a number of things that we should be aware that will make this show our greatest yet.
Set up begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 6th. Everyone should plan to arrive on time with their show trees and their door prize donations. Lunch will be served at noon.
Once you have helped set up and prepare the tables, it is time to display your trees. Kinoshita-san will work his magic to make everything look lovely.
On Sunday, plan to arrive at 10:00 AM with your apron or Happi Coat and your name badge. If you are bringing food, please bring it to the kitchen at that time in a dish deep and strong enough so there is no spillage.
If you wish to sell bonsai or related material, bring it and a list of the items and prices on Sunday. There is no limit on sale items per member this year.
Lunch will be served starting at 11:00. Remember to stay after the show for our Club photo, then after clean up we will have dinner.
Thanks to Dianne Woods and C. Jay Bradburywho brought refreshments to the last meeting. Don Brightwell and Greg Migdale will bring refreshments to the next meeting.
Don’t forget to visit our Club Library at the next meeting.
We agreed that every member should exhibit at the annual Exhibition this year, so bring your bonsai to the next meeting and get is ready to show. Kinoshita-san will help you. Bring a list of the bonsai that you will show or email it to Maggie Brubaker at Maggee36@aol.com.
The Marina Garden Tour went well and lots of people took our Show flyers. Hopefully this will help build attendance at our Show this year. The Herald did a nice article on coming gardening events which mentioned our Show so this will help as well. Burt Saunders has place several ads in the Herald for us and is working on getting us an interview about the Show.
This year we decided to open up the sales area to as many trees and pots as members wish to sell. There has been a problem in the past with members bringing too many sales items, but we hope this will not be a problem this year. Our attendees like to purchase from our sales area and the Club makes 20% on each sale, so it is good for us to have lots of trees and pots to sell.
Our annual Exhibition is our major fund raiser and we all need to work together to get the word out about the event. Please let your friends know and post flyers at your local garden shop. Next year we will email all past attendees too.
