April Work Schedule

UPDATE: We will proceed with the show and all plants may come in as expected. There will be inspectors on-site Saturday Morning to inspect all plants so that they may be certified to be carried out and are safe.

We know there is a plant quarantine in Palo Alto and it will not affect our show this weekend.

SHOW TIME, Everyone

2007 Kusamura Show

This year will mark the show’s return to Mitchell Park, a long-standing home of the club show, located at 3800 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto, CA 94303.  The show date will be April 28–29, 2007.  Saturday demos will be done by Mel IKEDA. Show Chair is Sandy Planting. Be sure to pick up some of our show announcements and place them in local coffee/tea houses, nurseries, and business so we can encourage attendance.

Every member is expected to display three trees in the show. One tree will be in a tokonoma display with accent plant and scroll. The meeting this month will give us as opportunity to bring in the show plant and pair it with the stand and work to finish it up for display. Pots will need to be cleaned of salts and cleaned with Walnut Oil or Vegetable oil.

IT’S SHOW TIME!
Charlene Fischer will be contacting you by phone for information about the trees that you will be displaying this year.  You may also email a list to charlenerae@mac.com.  You may send her information even if you only THINK you may show it.  It is easier to have a label ready than it is to create one at the last minute.

She is asking for the following three items about your trees:
1.  Common name
2.  Botanical name (if you don't know it is OK, she will look it up for you)
3.  Number of years in training (Trained Since Year)

Kitchen
The lead for the kitchen planning this year is Charlene.  She will give you a call to find out what food item you'd like to bring on Saturday or Sunday (or both). A list will also be available at the club meeting.  Thank you in advance for sharing your favorite dishes with us all!

Sign Up Sheets

Stephanie will have signup sheets at the April meeting. There will be positions open for: plant sale, kitchen, front desk, exhibit monitors, shohin display. We need members to help Bill Scott work on the sale plants especially on Friday evening for pricing.
