MAIN
MEETING 8:00 TO 10:00 pm
This is a work shop, bring, plants, tools and a table
cloth. Lonnie McCormick will continue in his series of
black pine care, development and maintenance. He follows
the teachings of Kathy Shaner. This method calls for
de-candling black pines only at this time of the
year. Lonnie will explain how this contributes to the
development of a fine black pine bonsai.
As you saw
in the last newsletter, Marty Mann had another method for
dealing with pines. This is an older school of thought than
the one Kathy teaches. It is important to stick to one
method for best results. Ways of developing bonsai keep
changing and improving. It is really important that when you
do something to your tree, you know why you are doing this.
So pay attention and keep notes on the workshop and also
take notes to see how your efforts affect your tree. This
way you will know the why as well as the how to.
Elections
This will be a busy meeting. June is the month when the
nominating committee presents the slate of officers for the
coming year. We will approve the slate and the new officers
will start next month. Traditionally, the only way you can
find out who the nominated offers are is to attend the
meeting.
Library
Will be open in June.

As part of the
demonstration, members bring in trees for coaching
and hands-on experience. 6/16/06 |

This is will be a session on care of maples, defoliating
and pruning. An important note:
If you will be
planning to defoliate you will want to fertilize for two
weeks before this meeting.
