MARCH 17TH 2006
TECHNIQUES MEETING 7-8 pm

See Slide show of
Raft Planting Demonstration

Due to the influx of rocks from Ed Poggenssee, it was felt that we could use yet another saikei demonstration by Sandy Planting.

MAIN MEETING 8-10 PM
We will have a group demo on raft style.  Ed Poggenssee, Bill Scott, and Sandy Planting will wrestle a large cryptomeria into a raft form and plant it in a wooden training pot.  This wonderful creation will be put on the raffle table.

April Meeting
SHOWTIME!
Bring the plants you want to show, plus your stands and accent plants/pieces.  We will have practice setups of formal display.  You can have a look-see to make sure you have everything you need.  Sometimes we trade pieces with each other.  It is important to start thinking about what plants you will show and what they need to be ready for show.  I know that BIB (Bay Island Bonsai) club members start working on their trees the day after their show, to be ready for next year.

Dues are Due
Please get your checks to Paul Thompson to keep your name on the roster.  Dues are $25 per single member and $35 for a family membership.  You can bring a check to the club meeting or mail your check to Paul.  It is your dues and the profit from our annual show that enable us to present the monthly programs.

POTTING PARTY
Will be Sunday 3-5-2006 at the Plantings.   The event lasts from 10 am thru 4 pm.

This issue of your club newsletter is being sent early to remind you to try to attend this event.  If you have some deciduous trees that have not leafed out or deciduous trees than can be transferred to a different pot with out much disruption and if you are willing to donate these plants to your club.  Please bring them to the potting party.

Also, if you are considering selling some consignment trees, you may bring them for styling suggestions, but you should work on these at home.

We made as much through consignment trees last year as we did club produced trees and donations.

Plant sales at our shows is one of the main ways your club acquires income to support our extensive educational program.

Please come early to this event or stay late to help either with setup or with clean up.  The Plantings have selflessly hosted these events for years.  They have an excellent set up and we should show our gratitude by helping and attending.
