Meetings, News and Special Events

March 20, 2009
Show Tree Prep and Workshop
7  – 9:30PM
This meeting is designed to cover Tokonoma preparation for the show as well as to work on a tree for the show individually in the group. We encourage members to bring a tree that may need some wiring, pruning, or final prep to this meeting and spend some time with your other showmates working on the tree.

The Plantings and others will be offering scrolls and stands as usual for the show but we will need people to help them bring them to the meeting and to haul things around. There are stands in the Shed as well that can be used for the show.

Let’s use this time to ask each other for finishing advice on cleaning up the show stopper tree. The article in this month’s newsletter is an excellent reminder of the many tasks that must be done before the show on just the tree.

We continue to need volunteers who can help with the various tasks surrounding the production of the show as well. Sign-up sheets will be available.

Show and Tell None this month.

Refreshments: provided by Dave & Rita Curbow.

From Your Show Committee
The show committee for this the 49th Annual Kusamura Bonsai show is now being formed.  The show chairmanship this year is a team of four people: Jerry Carpenter (Lead), Rita Curbow, Stephanie North, and Charlene Fischer. Our goal this year is groom a leader for the 50th Anniversary show coming up next year.

Sign-up sheets for other roles will be available at the March meeting. We are already started with publicity, table reservation, Tokonoma setup, and hall preparation. We will need volunteers for all other positions. We will place trees like we did last year as they come in and we will have a revised vignette design to the floor similar to last year.

We need people to report what trees they will be showing to Charlene. We will need to coordinate the movement of supplies from the shed and we are working to get assisted labor for the setup on Friday evening.

Dues Now Over Due
Hard to believe but another year has gone by and our membership dues are up for renewal. The Board has decided to raise dues for the first time in many years. We hope you all choose to continue with us and bring a check to John or Helen valued at $30 for a Single and $40 for a Couple made out to Kusamura Bonsai Club. Name badges and club pins are available from Helen as well.
