News
Officers!
The Nomination Committee chaired by Bill Scott and assisted
by Barbara Murray and Janet Refvem will be presenting their
slate of candidates for various board positions. The new
terms begin in June so we will be electing officers for the
next season during break at the May meeting.
Special Event – Workshop Announcement!
A special workshop is being offered Thursday, May 29, 2008
starting at 9AM to 4PM at the home of John and Sandy
Planting in Palo Alto. The workshop leader is Peter Warren,
native of England, who recently finished an apprenticeship
with Kunio Kobayshi of Japan. He has been a convention
headliner and writes articles for Bonsai Focus Magazine.
Please call John Planting for a seat at this event. There
will be room for 6 or 8 people at the most for this
exclusive Kusamura Club workshop.
Board Notice: The August
outing this year will be a day at the Golden State Bonsai
Northern Collection, as a work day for the collection. Many
clubs go as a group to the collection to work in the
collection doing grounds work, weeding trees, and general
maintenance as needed. Kusamura will give its August meeting
for this purpose. For those of you who have never been there
or not recently at least, this will be a great occasion to
see a crown jewel of the bay area and get a feel for
volunteering at the garden.
GSBF District Trustee Elections
Within the next few weeks, Cary
Sullivan, this year's GSBF Election Chairman, will be
sending clubs nomination forms for the upcoming
election. The following District Trustees in our northern
California area are not eligible to run for their positions
again, having served two 2- year terms:
District A, Art Tilles
District B, Lonnie McCormick
We like to encourage people to consider running for District
Trustee. You'd be required to attend a board meeting at the
annual convention, be active in bonsai, and other duties
involve staying in touch with your District member clubs and
bringing their situations, needs, concerns, etc. to the GSBF.

like it. It is free and iit s current. Any club that
distributes a newsletter is encouraged to provide members

The new online version offers video
