Potting Parties

Potting parties run from 10 am to 4 pm. Members are asked
to each bring trees for styling as a donation to the club.
Those who went to the recent bus trip can get material that
can be used at these party events. These events are
provided to help newer members to learn repotting techniques
and wiring. Long time members are asked to bring trees in
and to assist newer members with their contributions.

Golden State
Bonsai Federation’s
XXIX Convention
November 2-5, 2006
Sacramento, CA
This issue of
Golden State Statements contains material on
registration, workshops, seminars and schedule of
events. Let me share with you some of the things you
need to know with the hope that your attendance to
the convention will be a enjoyable and rewarding
time.
We have so many
activities and events to offer in the Sacramento
region, that we don’t have time for them within the
convention schedule. You will receive, with your
registration packet, a list of many things to do or
see. If you would like to extend your visit, we will
help you do it. Let us know and we’ll get
volunteers.
Convention Overview
We are very excited about our headliners, Masahiko
Kimura, Lindsay Shiba and Kathy Shaner. They are
familiar to almost everyone in the bonsai community
and they will give us instruction on the techniques
to refine our bonsai, bringing them to a higher
level of development.
There will be a change in some of the workshops,
in that the material will vary in size and value
determined by the workshop leader. Some of the
workshop leaders have over the years, developed some
very outstanding material. By utilizing this change
of having choices in your selection of material, you
will leave the completed workshop greatly satisfied.
Following convention policy, the workshop sign- up
will be on a “First-Come-First-Served” basis. We are
looking forward to great and satisfying workshops.
The following workshops will be offered: (if the
workshop has a *, this is the one with the varied
size and value. There will be a “Bring
your own tree” workshop with Masahiko Kimura, our
headliner, giving you an opportunity to bring your
best to the best. |
