Kusamura: A New Logo?
Our club is reaching the golden year, the 50! The board is suggesting retiring the current logo tree. There are a few obvious reasons. We do not have the original image used for the logo. The board feels that the current logo tree needs a face lift to reflect the new modern direction for the future and to emphasize the “Teach, Learn, Share” mission of our club.

The current logo was based on a photo found by Tosh and it came from a Japanese book on bonsai. There is a proposal that our new logo should be based on a tree owned by someone in the club. There is a suggestion of Tom Refvem’s juniper raft or possibility of Tosh’s Oak or Mugho pine located at the BGLM. Any suggestion or recommendation is welcome.

A logo is a symbolic representation, a signature of the club’s legacy and vision. It should communicate the message of “Teach, Learn, Share” and the club wisdom. One thought is to combine the icon and logotype (Kusamura) as one single identity.

The Board is asking for ideas, suggestions from each member. Let us know.  Forward your comment to Bang Vo at: bangvo@comcast.net or call his cell at 408-203-2187.

SPECIAL EVENT NOTICE:
Jerry Carpenter will be doing a special local bonsai demo in Mitchell Park, Palo Alto on Saturday, Sept 26. 10AM

He would like to have one or two others interested from the club to join him in the park for the demo. The demo is an opportunity to attract members to the club. We will set up a table, take a tree or trees and start working. We will have fliers and perhaps a banner or sign saying who we are. This is a trial to see how these events go. Hopefully it will generate interest and bring new members to our club.

If you would like to join the demo please email Jerry at:
 jcsf1090@comcast.net for more information.
