March Meeting
April
21TH 2006
TECHNIQUES MEETING 7-8 pm
SHOW TOKNOMA SET UP PRACTICE
-
This our last meeting before
the club show. Sandy Planting will instruct us on how to do
a formal display. This is a workshop. Bring the trees you
plan to show, your stands and accessories, if you have
them. You will have the opportunity to try different
arrangements with your materials and be able to borrow
materials from others that might work better. All members
are encouraged to set up a tokonoma display. If you don’t
feel your trees are suitable for a tokonoma, bring them for
the running display or in-progress area.
MAIN MEETING 8-10 PM
The exhibit plan will be available for advanced tokonoma
sign up, which saves time and makes things run more smoothly
Saturday morning. There will be lists passed around to sign
up for various show duties like food, hospitality, kitchen,
and plant sales. Everyone’s help would be appreciated for
set up and teardown of the show, the sale plants, kitchen,
and the demonstration areas.
We will be in a new location
and a call is out for all hands on deck. We have the
opportunity to become a fixture at the Palo Alto Art Center
which will give us a lot of needed visibility in the
community.
Hopefully, this change in
venue will help us attract some new members. Many of the
people who attend the Art Center activities do so with their
children. If we can entice the kids, their parents would be
sure to follow.
Dues are Past Due
Please get your checks to Paul Thompson to
keep your name on the roster. Dues are $25 per single
member and $35 for a family membership. You can bring a
check to the club meeting or mail your check to Paul. It is your dues and the
profit from our annual show that enable us to present the
monthly programs.
June Meeting
This meeting be a lecture on
Azalea care by Jim Ransohoff.
