7:00p.m. - 10p.m. Meeting
Kathy Shaner
This meeting
promises to be very educational, enlightening, and
enjoyable. Kathy Shaner will be our presenter and
all our members are asked to provide her with trees
that she will use as teaching materials. To
maximize learning, Kathy hopes to have many
different species of plants, both deciduous and
evergreen, represented at the meeting. If you have
something a little unusual, consider bringing it;
but in any case, bring something that you need help
with or
wish to improve. You may be unsure about the best
front or the ideal finished height or branch
structure. You may be worried about pot choice or
where to locate your tree in its pot. You may have
questions about the health of your tree or wish to
know if it needs repotting. Kathy will have the
answers. At the meeting, you will gain most by
listening to Kathy's comments on all of the trees.
However, if you wish, you may go quietly to work on
your tree after Kathy has discussed it. In this
case, you will need to have brought tools, wire,
and a table cover with you. Kathy always gives us a
great meeting, and you won't want to miss this one.
Just be sure to bring a tree for Kathy to critique.
Then perk up your ears and learn!
Marco
Invernizzi
Sandy Planting
reports that the Kusamura-sponsored workshop with
Marco Invernizzi was wonderful and the seven people
who attended thought it was well worth the
comparatively high price. All of the trees he
worked on were greatly improved. Mr. Invernizzi is
twenty-eight years old. He comes from Milan, Italy,
and speaks English well. He has studied for four
years with Masahiko Kimura, often called "the
Bonsai Wizard." Mr. Invernizzi will be a headliner
at the 2004 GSBF Convention in Santa Rosa. If you
wish a preview of his work, you are invited to
attend the East Bay Bonsai Club meeting on
Wednesday, January 14th at 7:30 p.m.
