Sandy will demonstrate how to turn a nice old boxwood into a bonsai. It will be on the raffle table.
Lonnie McCormick will lead the club members in a repeat of his wonderful and wonderful and informative black pine workshop. Bring your trees (black pines only), wire, tools, and a table covering.
This is the time of the year when pruning of pine growth is essential to needle reduction and branch ramification.
Kusamura will take its annual bus tour up to Sebastopol. The bus leaves the First Congregational Church Parking lot at 8:00AM on Saturday August 27th. (Note: If you received a printed copy of the newsletter it has the wrong date!) Bring a lunch as there are no stops for food along the way.
We will go to Sumigawa Nursery and will have a chance to visit their growing grounds. This is a wonderful opportunity to pick up some nice material grown especially for bonsai.
We will then head over to The Redwood Empire Bonsai show where Yasuo Mitsuya from Japan will do a demonstration at 1:30PM. This is a wonderful show to see. In addition to the show exhibit space, there are vendor booths selling everything you could ever imagine needing for bonsai. Besides the vendor area, there is a plant consignment area.
