June Meeting
Back To The
Basics with Sandy Planting
& Azaleas with Jim Ransohoff
7:00
Continuing her
lessons on how to control plant growth during late
spring and early summer, Sandy Planting will
concentrate this month on techniques for Japanese
black, red, corticata (aka Corkbark), and five
needle pines as well as junipers.
8:00
Jim Ransohoff,
whose beautiful azaleas we have greatly enjoyed
seeing on our show-and- tell table over the years,
will present a program on the latest methods for
growing azalea bonsai, especially those developed
from satsuki azaleas. Jim is just finishing a two
year course with Tatemori Gondo, the leading
satsuki expert from Japan. Mr. Gondo concentrates
on producing bonsai that are beautiful both in and
out of bloom. All of us who appreciate satsukis
will enjoy and profit from Jim's presentation. If
you have azaleas that you would like Jim to advise
you about, either aesthetically or horticulturally,
please bring them to the meeting.
